Easy Letter Decor

I came across the idea for this craft on Pinterest (of course). Wasn’t looking for a craft – it found me. Hah! No, it really did. I truly don’t enjoy crafting or DIY very much. Only the most simple concepts translate in my brain, let alone my hands.

As such, I’m pretty proud of the outcome!

What you’ll need:

  • Letter of choice
  • Super glue or hot glue
  • Ribbon (however many colors you want. The embellishment is completely your choice!)
  • Jute
  • Scissors

Here’s how I did it…

First, I got my stuff laid out. I have tacky glue out because I was running low on the super glue.

I began by adding a drop of super glue to the top of the back side of my letter. I did a K, so I did it on the top of the left stem.

After squeezing out some glue, I pressed the end of the jute onto it until secure-ish Then, I began very tightly wrapping the jute around the letter. I made sure to hold the jute down as though the glue wasn’t even there, so that it could dry properly.

So, that looks terrible. However, in the picture below, it came together really well. Jute covers itself far better than I expected, and there were multiple areas where I had double layers going on.

I went really minimal on the embellishment. I wanted this to be more than just a decoration for fall, so I used colors I have in my family room all year long. However, you’ll notice the Pinterest version looks very fall-esque!

Ta da! This took about 30 minutes and was totally worth it!

There are definitely ways to make this even better, I just absolutely had no interest in spending longer than necessary.

One neat idea, though, would be to secure ribbon from the back so you can hang it from a door. I opted out of that step because my letter was a bit small. Craft stores have nice big letters that would make this super cute for hanging on the front door.

Let me know if you try this, and leave any suggestions in the comments section!
